Making the Perfect Old Fashioned
Redbreast 12 Year Old provides a robust, flavorful base for this old fashioned. Crème de pêche brings a subtle stone fruit sweetness that complements the whiskey’s depth. The combination of simple syrup and both Peychaud’s and orange bitters adds layers of complexity, balancing the sweetness with herbal and citrusy notes. The orange twist provides a refreshing aroma that ties everything together, resulting in a highly-sippable, nuanced cocktail.
Whiskey plays a starring role in any old fashioned, which is why method is so important. Stirring an old fashioned rather than shaking it with ice is essential to maintaining the whiskey’s character and balance. This method preserves the whiskey’s subtle flavors without overly aerating or diluting it. We recommend serving your old fashioned over one large ice cube rather than several small ones.
