Whiskey is central to this classic cocktail, so you’ll want to choose a bottle you love. With succulent notes of berry, brown sugar and peppery spice, Redbreast Kentucky Oak Edition is the perfect base for this mint julep. Gently muddling the mint with a touch of simple syrup infuses the cocktail with an aromatic sweetness that matches Redbreast’s robust character.
Mint juleps are always served over crushed ice, which keeps the drink cool and refreshing. Pack your julep cup full of ice and stir until the exterior is frosted. Then, pack more crushed ice on top to give this cocktail its iconic look. Finally, garnish with fresh mint leaves and a few optional drops of bitters for an extra layer of complexity.
